“Sholoana Bablu”. Is not only a biography of India’s straight spine most beloved defender and man who led the Mohun Bagan team against mighty legend Pele at Kolkata. Shri Subrata Bhattacharya, aka Bablu da.
When IBG NEWS Covered the event I(Pulok Chatterjee) was honoured to seat along with the legends. Beside my right Samir Roy volleyball player Bengal, me, left Renowned film Director and artist Naran Roy, Shri Subrata Bhattacharya (Arjun Awardee Footballer), and Sri Debashis Dutta, General Secretary Mohun Bagan Club, Samaresh Choudhury, Shyam Thapa, Sisir Ghosh all renowned dignitaries who represented Indian team for many years were also present at the Mohun Bagan Club on 29th July 2023. Sri Swapan Banerjee football secretary of Mohun Bagan and Sri Baisanor Chatterjee councillor and Advocate, Bidesh Bose footballer Indian team, and MLA too were also present at the Mohun Bagan Club.
“Sholoana Bablu,” this book was inaugurated by the Indian football team captain Sunil Chhetri, who is also the son-in-law of the famous footballer Shri Subrata Bhattacharya along with Mrs. Lata Bhattacharya(Shri Subrata Bhattacharya’s wife) and other dignitaries on the dias on the auspicious occasion of the Mohun Bagan Day.
The book was written by Gautam Bhattacharya, an old campaigner with a pen in the sports field.
The book talks about the life struggle, accolades, and betrayal of society and how Bablu da managed all with his own style.
To know more this book is a must-read for all.
Bablu da is a living legend for all including his Darby rival East Bengal fans too and that’s the USP of Subrata Bhattacharya you love him, or you hate him but you can not ignore him.
This is truly a Mohunbagan Ratna’s life in and around football.
