MTS 2.0 will focus on upgrading existing military platforms, indigenous innovation and future combat readiness.

NEW DELHI, October 26, 2026: The Indian Army’s Western Command will organise the second Mechanisation Technology Seminar (MTS 2.0) on December 14–15, 2026, at Chandimandir Military Station, focusing on transforming existing military platforms for future combat.

Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command, inaugurated the seminar’s curtain raiser at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi, on October 26. The event was organised in collaboration with the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM).

The seminar, themed “CHAKRA – Transforming Existing Platforms for Future Combat,” will bring together Army personnel, defence manufacturers and academic experts to develop practical solutions for emerging battlefield requirements.

Focus on Modernisation and Self-Reliance

MTS 2.0 will explore ways to enhance the combat effectiveness of existing platforms through technological upgrades, equipment refurbishment and improved adaptability. Key focus areas include combat capability enhancement, technology integration, kinetic capabilities and Atmanirbharta (self-reliance).

A central objective is to convert operational challenges into clearly defined Problem Definition Statements (PDS), enabling industry and academia to develop targeted, implementable solutions for the Army.

Strengthening Indigenous Defence Capabilities

The initiative aims to deepen collaboration between military users, defence manufacturers and research institutions, accelerating indigenous innovation and technology-driven modernisation.

By upgrading existing platforms and addressing operational capability gaps, the seminar seeks to improve the readiness, resilience and effectiveness of mechanised forces while supporting India’s drive towards greater self-reliance in defence.
