22nd KIFF ends with the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger Award presented to the best film
The closing ceremony of the 22nd Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) on Friday evening at Nazrul Mancha saw Iranian director Nahid Hasanzadeh being handed over the Golden Royal Bengal Tiger Award for her film Another Time by actor Raveena Tandon. Chinese director Yao Tingting was also awarded for her film Cheer Me Up.
While addressing the gathering, Raveena Tandon lauded Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her efforts towards the empowerment of women.
Echoing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s words, State Finance Minister Dr Amit Mitra said the city is the cultural capital of the whole world. Great directors like Satyajit Roy, Jean Renoir, Ritwik Ghatak had worked in Kolkata and made films of international standards. He said China was the theme for the film festival, and that “as cinema breaks all barriers of language and culture, people came and enjoyed the Chinese films without knowing the language”.
Senior ministers of the State Cabinet, the Mayor of Kolkata and distinguished guests and cinema lovers from all walks of life were present at the closing ceremony.

গতকাল ২২তম আন্তর্জাতিক ফিল্ম ফেস্টিভালের সমাপ্তি অনুষ্ঠান অনুষ্ঠিত হল নজরুল মঞ্চে যেখানে ভারতীয় অভিনেত্রী রবিনা ট্যান্ডন পারস্যের চিত্র পরিচালক নাহিদ হাসানজাদেহের হাতে গোল্ডেন রয়েল বেঙ্গল টাইগার পুরস্কার তুলে দিলেন তাঁর Another Time ছবিটি পরিচালনার জন্য। চৈনিক পরিচালক ইয়াও টিংটিংকেও পুরস্কৃত করা হয় তাঁর Cheer Me Up ছবিটি পরিচালনার জন্য।
রবিনা ট্যান্ডন বক্তব্য রাখতে গিয়ে নারী কল্যানে অসামান্য অবদানের জন্য মাননীয়া মমতা বন্দ্যোপাধ্যায়ের ভূয়সী প্রশংসা করেন।
মুখ্যমন্ত্রীর সঙ্গে একই সুরে অর্থমন্ত্রী অমিত মিত্র বলেন কলকাতা বিশ্ব সংস্কৃতির প্রাণকেন্দ্র। সত্যজিত রায়, জ্যাঁ রেনোয়াঁ, ঋত্বিক ঘটকের মতো বিশ্ববিখ্যাত চিত্র পরিচালকেরা কলকাতায় প্রচুর সিনেমা তৈরী করেছেন।
চীন ছিল এবারের থিম। তিনি বলেন, “যেহেতু সিনেমা ভাষা এবং সংস্কৃতির সব গন্ডি অতিক্রম করতে সাহায্য করে, তাই মানুষ চীনা ভাষা না জেনেও চীনা সিনেমা দেখতে এসেছেন ও আনন্দ পেয়েছেন।”
অনেক মন্ত্রী, কলকাতার মহানাগরিক ও অনেক বিশিষ্ট অতিথিরা এই অনুষ্ঠানে উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
