AVIONICS SEMINAR 23 (AVISEM)

HQ Maintenance Command, Nagpur hosted a seminar, AVISEM -23, on 02 Jun 23 at 9BRD, Pune on the theme “Smart Sustenance of Avionics and Ground Based Systems”. The event was presided by Air Marshal Vibhas Pande, Air Officer Commanding in Chief, Maintenance Command, and was attended by Air Marshal AK Arora, Director General (Aircraft), Air Vice Marshal SP Bhandare, Senior Maintenance Staff Officer, Western Air Command, and experts from the leading Design Houses and the Industry.
Air Marshal Vibhas Pande in his keynote address touched upon the importance of becoming self-sufficient in the sustenance of a wide range of assets that the IAF operates. He also brought out the challenges that IAF faces on account of the crisis across the Balkan peninsula. To address the issues at hand the Air Marshal emphasized that there is a need to strategize and adopt measures targeted at refining the various processes and aligning with Industry 4.0 technologies and practices. The Air Marshal emphasized the Smart Sustenance of Assets which can be best achieved when we truly migrate towards a regime of Data-Centric Operations and facilitate a host of smart sustenance practices like Condition Based Maintenance, Skill Agnostic Decision-Making Systems, Life Cycle Management and Extension studies, etc.
The seminar witnessed immersive presentations and discussions on the Modular Open System Architecture approach of designing and realizing electronic aggregates and RF systems, the use of AR / VR technology in aircraft maintenance activities, Network Centric Maintenance of Avionics Aggregates, Digital Twin technology for Avionics Systems, and Cyber Security of Avionics System. The seminar was followed by a well-represented exhibition of solutions available within the industry on connected technologies. A Memorandum of Agreement was also signed between the IAF and Bharat Forge Limited, CSIR NAL to enhance joint capabilities to find solutions for problem statements and technology infusion.
