India planed for green transport by 2030 a regulatory push by the government and future is for electric vehicles in India, Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd on 20th Nov 2017 launched its first electric three-wheeler, e-Alfa Mini at Kolkata.
Toto a local and Chinese version of e-Rickshaws are already popular in Bengal. So M&M eyed their eastern market right from the City of Joy. An estimated 10K units per month of market is there and Mahindra plans a major share with first quality certified e-Rickshaw with first Battery change free for the customers.
Priced at Rs1.27 lakh, e-Alfa Mini is the maiden offering in the last mile connectivity segment by the Mumbai-based firm for Bengal. After Kolkata , Siliguri and Burdwan are the next market for them to venture in.
Powered by a 120Ah battery, the e-Alfa is aimed at intra-city movement and on a full charge can travel for up to 85 kilometers at its top speed of 25 kmph. It takes 6-7 hours to charge in 15 Amp domestic power connection.
