PM congratulates Indian Women’s hockey team on winning Asia Cup 2017
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has congratulated the Indian Women’s hockey team on winning Asia Cup 2017.
“Congratulations to our hockey team on winning the Women’s Asia Cup 2017. India is delighted by their stellar performance.”,the Prime Minister said.
Earlier at KAKAMIGAHARA (Japan) “Chak De” effort by Goalkeeper Savita produced a stunning save in a tense shootout reminding us of Sharukh Khan’s milestone movie as India won the Asia Cup and got the ticket for next year’s hockey World Cup following a nail biting win over China in the final here on Sunday.
The team broke a 13-year-old misfortune myth when skipper Rani scored the final goal and Savita foiled an attempt from the rivals to ensure a 5-4 win.
India now ready for World Cup and forget that they finished ninth in the 2010 edition of the game.
Rani scored twice while Monica, Lilima Minz and Navjot scored a goal each in the shootout.
Congratulations to our hockey team on winning the Women's #AsiaCup2017. India is delighted by their stellar performance.
