User data has been theft from the IRCTC website and that has been in news for quite some time.
But an IRCTC authority denied recent news reports that its website was hacked, and said that a high placed technical committee has been formed to enquire details of the issue.
As per news sources Maharashtra cyber cell had already informed IRCTC about a potential data theft of its user registration details.
“There has been no hacking as such; we’ve checked our data for the last one month and beyond that. As for the report as far as data theft is concerned, a committee has been formed and they are enquiring into the matter,” said IRCTC PRO Sandip Dutta,
in response to a news report which said that personal data of one crore (10 million) IRCTC users is likely to have been stolen.
This could be the biggest Cyber Theft in India’s history, IRCTC has a total user-base of 39 million , sells 500K tickets every month, with nearly 50 million daily visits.
IRCTC is currently in complete damage control mode, replying every twit which is related to IRCTC data theft.
