KMC launches food campaign in city
Kolkata Municipal Corporation on Tuesdaylaunched awareness campaigns to ensure food safety norms to be maintained by the street food vendors and at the posh eateries in the city.
Member Mayor-in-council, health (MMiC), Atin Ghosh visited several street food vendors situated at the Dacre’s Lane at Esplanade and also some of the posh eateries including the Lalit’s Great Eastern hotel situated at the central office district of the city.
“We are basically concerned that the eatery owners must ensure food safety norms.It is because of this reason that the civic health department will be distributing the booklet on food safety guideline,” Ghosh said.
During his visit on Tuesday, the MMiC said that an eatery was found using industrial ice, which is not approved to be used in food.
“Though we have not taken any action against the vendor, but we have destroyed the stock of ice. The civic health officer also explained the vendors regarding this usage and its side effects,” Ghosh explained.
He further said the civic health team also found usage of synthetic colour by an eater owner. “We also seized the colour. It must be noted that the colour has a certain permissible limited that could be applied only in making sweets but not in cooked food.”
The MMiC informed that the he will be making such visits at regular intervals to create awareness.
খাদ্য সচেতনতা বাড়াতে কলকাতা পুরসভার নয়া উদ্যোগ
খাবারে ভেজাল মেশানো রুখতে কলকাতা পুরসভার তরফ থেকেক বেশ কিছু গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পদক্ষেপ নেওয়া হয়েছে। কলকাতা পুরসভার মঙ্গলবার খাদ্য নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করতে রাস্তায় খাবারের দোকানগুলি এবং হোটেলগুলি পরিদর্শন করে।
মঙ্গলবার মেয়র পারিষদ (খাদ্য, স্বাস্থ্য) অতীন ঘোষ এদিন ধর্মতলার ডেকার্স লেনের খাবারের দোকানগুলিতে পরিদর্শনে যান।
মেয়র পারিষদ বলেন, “যে খাবারের দোকান মালিকরা খাদ্য প্রস্তুতিতে সঠিক নিয়ম-নিরাপত্তা মেনে চলেন কিনা আমরা মূলত সেই ব্যাপারে উদ্বিগ্ন। আগামী জুলাই মাসের মধ্যেই দি ফুড সেফটি অ্যান্ড স্ট্যান্ডার্ডস অ্যাক্টের গাইডলাইন মেনে প্রশিক্ষণ দেওয়া হবে”।
তিনি আরও জানাণ, প্রশিক্ষণের পর তারা গাইডলাইন মেনে খাবার তৈরি করছে কিনা তা দেখে গ্রেডেশন দেওয়া হবে।
অতীন ঘোষ আরও জানান, রাস্তায় বিক্রি হওয়া এইসব খাবারে বেশ কিছু রাসায়নিক পাওয়া গেছে যা খাবারে মেশানোর অনুমোদন নেই এবং যা শরীরের জন্য ক্ষতিকারক। ৬০-৭০ টি দোকানের খাবারে পাওয়া গেছে সিনথেটিক রঙ, দোকানদারদের সতর্ক করা হয়েছে।
এছাড়া খাদ্য নিরাপত্তার স্বার্থে বিক্রেতাদের মাথার টুপি, হাতের গ্লাভস দেবে কলকাতা পুরসভা। পর্যাপ্ত পানীয় জলেরও ব্যবস্থা করবে। শহরের ছোটবড় সমস্ত হোটেল ও রেস্তোরাগুলিতে স্বাস্থ্যসম্মত খাবার তৈরি হচ্ছে কিনা তা দেখার জন্য প্রতি মাসে আচমকা পরিদর্শনে যাবেন আধিকারিকরা।
