
Kolkata 14th August 2016: Association of Architects, Builders, Interior Decorators and Allied Business (ABID) organised special celebrations of Independence Day in Pora Basti Camp –The Makeover Story for 300 houses in that area.
The event started with Bharat Maata Pooja followed by flag hoisting and the inauguration of THE MAKEOVER STORY by the ABID President along with ABID members.Mr. Kamlesh Agarwal, President of ABID, Mr. Anand Gupta, Secretary ABID, Mr. Sandeep Chadhha, Pravir Agarwal, Mr.Surjit Singh Dua, Ms.Arunika Sarkar, Ms.Shreyasi Roy, Ms.Urvashi Rastogi, Archit Saraogi, Pina Sheth, Ritu Duggal were present at the occasion.
Main attraction was wall art paint by ABID members, patriotic songs and dances, performed by 30 odds slum children living in that basti. Tattoo of Tiranga shown in the faces of children’s and-youngsters.
“This is our heart, our corporate culture, our mission to give back to change lives and protect our environment. The objective of The Makeover Story is to paint exterior part of 300 houses in Pora Basti camp with carefully chosen colours to make the neighborhood look brighter & colourful. The project aims to give the slum people a functional livelihood and transform the aesthetic and the social psychology of the whole slum,” said Ms.Arunika Sarkar, Interior Designer who came up with the concept
“Today as we step in another year of Independence Day, we at ABID wanted to set an example to the society about the role of Interior Designers. We hope we will be able to help more people uplift or facelift their homes in the slum areas in Kolkata and nearby. By doing so, we will bring peace, hope, pride and happiness among the inhabitants” said Mr Kamlesh Agarwal, president of ABID.
