Early morning of 12th Oct 2016 around 4:01 am, An earthquake of medium intensity scaling 5.3 on the Richter Scale hit the Lakshadweep Island Sea region of India.
National Centre for Seismology, a unit of Ministry of Earth Sciences informed the quake hit the Lakshadweep Sea around 4:01 am at a depth of 10 km.
As of now no immediate reports of major loss of lives or property found from the region.
