55TH NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK LAUNCHED IN KOLKATA.
The Indian pharmaceutical association Bengal branch today launched the 55th national pharmacy week 2016 at the press club here today.
Briefing reporters Dr. Subhash Chandra Mandal, President of the Bengal branch said that this year’s theme is “ Pharmacists for a healthy India:Role in prevention and management of diabetes”.
In addition to diabetes awareness campaigns will be conducted on other life style diseases, etical usage of drugs, role of patients and screening tests.
Lifestyle diseases, he said, include : atherosclerosis, heart disease, stroke, obesity and diseases associated with smoking, alcohol and drug abuse.
The association will conduct road shows, distribute leaflets and put up posters in several districts of West Bengal.
In addition the association will release two videos on life style awareness and diabetes awareness.
The week long programme will kick off with an inaugural function on 20th November’ 2016 at the Dr. Meghnad Saha auditorium, Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institue and conclude with a national workshop at Kolkata on the topic “ Pharmacists for a healthy India” where several burning issues like- life style diseases, Vector borne diseases, Maternal and child health, Personalised medicines and pharmacovigilance will be discussed by eminent scientists from all over the country.
