INAUGURATION of “PRADHAN MANTRI KAUSHAL KENDRA” – Model Skill Development Center, AT Maheshtala, South 24pgs

, India’s Leading Skill Development Company inaugurated Model Skill Development Training Centre “PRADHAN MANTRI KAUSHAL KENDRA (PMKK)” at Maheshtala. It was inaugurated by Hon. MLA Smt Kasturi Das as Chief Guest and Shri Dulal Chandra Das , Honorable Chairman of Maheshtala along with other representatives from NSDC, local administration, Industry Partners and Media. More than 500 unemployed youth attended the event for enrollment.
It is an initiative of Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship & NSDC. This Centre is spread in an area of 10,000 sqft and target is to provide training & employment to 9,000 candidates in 3 years in 7 Job roles in various sectors– Apparel, Telecom, Construction, Electronics and Hospitality. Orion will provide Short Term Skill training for 10-12 weeks and providing employment / self employment opportunities to School/College dropout and unemployed youth and women under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojna. Training will be completely free of cost and subsidized by Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. Assessment will be done by respective Sector Skill Council and Candidate will get certificates from NSDC.
Vocational training needs to be made aspirational to transform India into the skill capital of the world. In line with the same, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) intends to establish visible and aspirational model training centers in every district of the country. NSDC is the implementation agency for the project. The model training centers envisage to:
- Create benchmark institutions that demonstrate aspirational value for competency based skill development training
- Focus on elements of quality, sustainability and connect with stakeholders in skills delivery process
- Transform from a mandate driven footloose model to a sustainable institutional model
