Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee launches Kolkata host city logo for FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2017
The Under 17 Football World Cup is staring on October 8. The final match is scheduled for October 28. Kolkata is one of the venues of this mega event; the World Cup Final will be held in the City of Joy.
The organisers of the Football World Cup today called on the Chief Minister at Nabanna. Addressing the press after the meeting, the Chief Minister sought cooperation from all quarters to make this event a huge success.
“This is a big event, an important event. We all must cooperate to make it a success. We have got an opportunity to project Kolkata in front of the world and we must do so with earnest effort.”
She thanked the organisers for selecting Kolkata as one of venues. “We are deeply honoured,” she said.
“Over 500 TV channels, radio channels and other media will be present here. Representatives from different countries will be here. It is our duty and responsibility to make them feel at home. Rabindranath Tagore had writer, “Esho esho, amar ghore esho, amar ghore” (you are most welcome to my home),” the CM said.
She announced that the government has decided that the President of the (U-17 Football World Cup) Board will be the ‘State Guest’.
