Bengal King maker Mukul Roy, a founding member of Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress ended all speculation and joined the BJP in Delhi as expected by political gurus. After joining he declared with lots of entusiasm that his new party “will in the near future grab power in West Bengal.”.

He also said he was “proud to be working under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”. A Y category of security has been already provided to Mr. Roy by Center.

BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad, who announced his induction in to the party and requested Roy to speak in Bengali.

“I have joined the BJP today, I am very much confident. I believe BJP is not a communal force but a secular force,” Mr Roy said

He revealed that without the support of the BJP, the TMC could not have got the kind of success it had. The two parties have been allies in the past during Atal Behari Vajpayee Era.  

Mr Roy, the defacto number two in the TMC party and the man behind the TMC organization, quit the Trinamool Congress and resigned his Rajya Sabha seat last month. 

Amid speculation that Mr Roy was headed to the BJP, Kailash Vijayvargiya, the party’s leader in charge of Bengal, said last week that the former Trinamool man had expressed to the BJP’s West Bengal unit, a wish to join the party. 

Now rise and fall of Mukul Roy within TMC is a script for another “SARKAR RAJ” but with out a popular face like Mamata Banerjee how much on the ground BJP will gain it’s a million dollar question. 

When West Bengal Congress broke and TMC formed party was not in power and grassroot workers were with Mamata and her fighter image. Ganga has flown far from that left front era and in 2017 TMC is the only main force in Bengal politics with advantage of being in power for two terms.

Mamata Banerjee still the key crowd puller in Bengal politics and majority grassroot will not be ready to leave lucrative ruling party dogma.

But at this moment advantage BJP West Bengal as they have a man who knows TMC in and out like his palm. With Amit Shah and Mukul joint action dent in the organization of TMC may be in sight but how much that will be converted in to 2019 & 2021 general election only time can tell.

But Mr. Roy saved his political career and proves for now for sure. BJP expectation will be high from Mr. Roy and local leader may work on low keys to jeopardize Mukul Roy’s future and that can not be overruled.
