State Slum Soccer Championship organised by Sportskedia
“Out of difficulties grow miracles”- Jean De La Bruyere.
We often see young energetic souls, in the lanes of city, running around with a ball, tackling a friend and cheering with unimaginable joy on having scored a goal. The cheer however, mostly stays unheard and faints away among the worldly din of the underprivileged class of our society staying in slums. We often turn a complete blind eye to their dreams, their dreams of playing for a club, their dreams of being cheered for.
It is for enabling these little children to take a step towards this dream, that Sportskedia, a city based organization has tied up with Slum Soccer a Nagpur based body to host a State Slum Soccer Championship.
48 such talents from 6 districts North 24 Pgs, Kolkata, Howrah , Malda , Burdwan , Jalpaiguri will be playing this tournament today to win the State Slum Soccer Championship.
Aparup Chakraborty, a former Indian Indoor Cricket team Captain and an AIFF Match Commissioner along and Mr. Raja Venkat, former National Cricket Selector, is spearheading Sportskedia to usher in the volley of big dreams in to the lives of the children who, quite often than not, may have even forgotten what a dream is.
Sportskedia, partnered with ward no 35 of Bidhan Nagar Municipal Corporation and in Collaboration with Slum Soccer (an NGO from Nagpur) is ecstatic to host State Soccer Championship for the underprivileged in Kolkata. The tournament also witnesses a Social Awareness workshop conducted by WC Winning Sports Psychologist- Mrinal Chakraborty & Former Indian Selector Raja Venkat.
Sportskedia shares a similar vision with Slum Soccer which is to use sports as a building block and bring about an extremely positive change in our social fabric.
