With an electric atmosphere and stimulating energy, Nazrul Mancha saw the heartthrob of fans- Darshan Raval-perform to originals and songs of yester years with great ease.
A YouTube Sensation-Darshan-who has reached over 14 million listeners for his single ‘Tera Zikr’, released by Sony Music and his followers could not have asked for a more fun evening.
Darshan began his performance with a famous Gujarati number ‘Nayan ne bandh rakhine’ immediately giving a festive vibe in the auditorium. Darshan showed equal ease in singing A R Rahman’s ‘Humma Humma…’ along with golden oldies like ‘Badan Pe Sitarein’, ‘Mere Sapno ki Rani’ and ‘Gulabi Aankhen Jo Teri…’ among others. But with a fan base of teenagers and young adults, he crooned to trending Bollywood favourites like ‘Teri Galliyan’, ‘Inna Sona’, ‘Kabhi Jo badal barse’.
However, the loudest cheers were for his original track ‘Tera Zikr’ lifting the energy of the crowd and once he reached ‘Tor Kotha’-all the Bengali girls screamed their hearts out!
Fans had been eagerly waiting for Darshan’s show and young girls travelled with their mothers from Siliguri, Darjeeling and Sikkim to witness their favourite icon in action in Kolkata. Darshan received several love notes and gifts from his admirers in the audience and in return called a fan on stage and gave her his black jacket.
Darshan said, “ I think the world’s best energy for music is in Kolkata. I love all my fans here the most and I hope to receive their appreciation always.” He enjoyed eating puchchka and exploring the city night. His favourite food is Mishti.
