Kolkata, 14th December 2017: ‘No great destination was ever achieved without enthusiasm’ – the same holds true for a city that replicates the exact passion in everything it integrates. Kolkata, which is one of the most vibrant metropolitans, has added an exclusive feather onto its much glorious cap as it opened doors of Kolkata Retail Forum 2017 for the first time. Kolkata Retail Forum aimed at providing a platform for all stakeholders in retail, including service providers, to engage in lucid and focused dialogue about burning issues, opportunities for growth and the way ahead. The theme of the KRF 2017 was ‘Customer Experience: The Competitive Edge.’

“When retail prospers, a region prospers. Retail helps increase employment in a state and boosts its GDP (gross domestic product). We see a huge amount of consumption capability in West Bengal, especially in Kolkata. Most retailers who have offered good products and services in Kolkata have seen their businesses raise double digits consistently over the last five years. We believe that this trend will continue and to ensure that retail business increases, consumers are made to feel happy and the overall economy of the state gets boosted, it is essential for the stakeholders to come together and redevise their strategies. Kolkata Retail Forum is a step in that direction,” said Kumar Rajagopalan, CEO, Retailers Association of India.

The evening was kicked off by an inspiring keynote address by Shri Bratya Basu, Minister in Charge, Information Technology & Electronics Department, Government of West Bengal. The audience was treated to a rare one-on-one session between Shri Rakesh Biyani, Joint Managing Director, Future Retail Limited and RAI CEO Shri Kumar Rajagopalan that kept the audience enthralled.
