They also sang praises of Didi’s leadership.
The definite reason for Industry to give a standing ovation to CM for ease of doing business is known to all and it has been learnt that West Bengal currently tops the list of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion’s Business Reforms Action Plan (BRAP) 2017, comprising all states and Union
Here are the top quotes of the day:
Mukesh Ambani (Chairman, RIL): Under, Mamata Banerjee’s leadership West Bengal is becoming Best Bengal. Didi, we could make this large investment only because you have created a friendly climate and an enabling policy infrastructure. Bengal has said goodbye to the slow growth rate of the past and today is the fourth largest state economy in India, growing at 15.64 per cent, much higher than the national average.
Investments in infrastructure have been unprecedented. A global think-tank ranked Kolkata second among the Indian metros on overall economic performance, even ahead of Mumbai. Today, the state is famous for the ease of doing business! A miracle has happened. Bengal today means business, the state has adopted a positive mindset that can make the impossible possible.
Laxmi Mittal (Chairman and CEO, ArcelorMittal): Mamata Di, our beloved Didi, has certainly put her mind to ensuring that Bengal achieves its full potential and that includes ensuring that the State has a growing and thriving economy. I can see the initiatives she is implementing are already yielding results and being recognised on the world stage. I have assured Didi that in the years ahead I will bring my family foundation activities to Bengal to help develop and empower the young people of this State. Didi is also fully committed to addressing bureaucracy and corruption: two of India’s well known challenges. I want to emphasise that clean business is good business.
Sajjan Jindal (Chairman and MD, JSW Group): I have been seeing Bengal for the last 20 years from very close quarters but what we are seeing today is an amazing change that has been brought about by none other than our charismatic leader Mamata Didi. Her passion, her love for the State, for the people of Bengal and for the girls of Bengal is very amazing. Her commitment towards the development of Bengal is enormous. As potential investors friends we are all sitting here and as the ambassador of the State I will urge you all to choose West Bengal as the prime most and the first destination for investment.
Kishore Biyani (CEO, Future Group): I have always maintained that Bengal is my Karma Bhumi. We have set up our Data Lake here. This is cutting-edge work that we shall be doing based out of Bengal & US. Cost of doing business is the lowest in the entire country. Didi has helped us not with words, but with action.
Sanjeev Goenka (Chairman, RP Sanjeev Goenka Group): In Bengal, business and businessmen are treated with dignity, respect, warmth and love. We feel wanted and welcomed. A movement of change had been started by the honourable Chief Minister a few years ago and this movement has manifested into visible things on the ground. Progress is visible in industry, social sector, civic amenities and infrastructure to be quite honest we have touched the spectrum. This is a government with a heart and it’s not for nothing that our Chief Minister has been voted by India Today as the number one Chief Minister of the country.
Aloke Lohia (CEO, Indorama Ventures): What I have experienced over the last 24 hours is overwhelming. Bengal means business under the leadership of honourable Chief Minister. Bengal has emerged again as an economic powerhouse and promises to be the gateway to India once again. Bengal means business, so let’s do business.
Ajay Singh (Chairman and MD, Spicejet): The reason Bengal does so well is because the Chief Minister has an immense source of power inside her, which is fuelling the rise and growth of the State. Spicejet is already on of Bengal’s largest partners. We have seventy flights going in and out of Bengal. This number will increase manifold in the next few years.
Spicejet is committed to connecting the airport of Durgapur with Bangalore and Hyderabad with some help from the Bengal Government. We would like to make our hub for seaplanes in Bengal. We would like to fly these planes by starting with giving a boost to tourism by flying them to Ganga Sagar, to the Sundarbans and to every nook and corner of the State.
Uday Kotak (Vice Chairman and MD, Kotak Mahindra Bank): The sun rises in the east. Bengal always had the resources, the only problem I was told is “mindset”. With the rise of our beloved didi like the sun, that has changed I am truly delighted and confident that we will increase our presence in the State. I thank Mamata ji for her warmth, affection and for the open approach. Kolkata will be the centre and the jewel for the entire eastern region of India.
9 partner countries, 32 countries with big delegations, more than 4000 participants, we look forward to #BGBS2018 with lots of optimism. My best wishes to all. #BengalMeansBusiness pic.twitter.com/UTKH8NNtC8
