SOUMITRA & APARNA- A RETROSPECTIVE
It was in Satyajit Ray’s Samapti in which Amulya ( Soumitra Chatterjee) met Mrinmoyee ( Aparna Sen) for the first time in 1961. The rest is history ! It’s a time to revisit the past, a past which we all movie buffs cherish each and every day in our life. Centrestage presented the Cricket Club of Dhakuria’s annual social through a trip down memory lane kind of an extravaganza Soumitra and Aparna- A Retrospective in conversation with Anindya Chatterjee at Kala Mandir, today. It featured two celluloid legends of Bengal; Soumitra Chatterjee & Aparna Sen, who teamed up in 23 feature films together.
They were engaged in discussion with Anindya Chatterjee, an acclaimed singer-writer-film director in his own right. The discussion was ranged from their early years to their first foray into films. Thereafter we witnessed to a gripping session of stories and anecdotes shared from their own experience.
The legends discussed Films, Theatre, Literature, Directors, Writers, Music Directors and indeed many other facets, institutions and individuals to reflect upon the rich history and tradition that they have been associated with over the years. To illustrate the discussion, there was screening of relevant film clips as well as some songs to relive the golden past. Songs or mostly parts of songs were sung by Aritra & Dipanwita. The minimal acoustic musical arrangement was made by Rocket Mondal in an informal studio environment.
