The tallest landmark of Kolkata “THE 42” celebrated 69th Republic Day in style. The management conveyed their feelings with the press.
Press Communication from “The 42”
At ‘THE 42’ we strive for iconic excellence. This year we extend this thought to the way we celebrated our nation’s 69th Republic Day by designing a 100 feet X 66 feet Tricolour. For perspective, the flag size was equivalent to a 10-storeyed building X 7-storeyed building. Considering the size of the flag, the estimated self-weight of the flag was in itself 70 kgs., and the estimated wind speed it was to experience at the hoisted height was between 30 kmph. to 40 kmph.
Therefore, it required meticulous engineering plans for its hoisting. Stitching of this magnificent Satin Tricolour took over 3 days. Post which, it had to be transported and lifted to the terrace. The final hoisting stage involved the assistance of a Luffing crane and 4 brave team members who climbed to the edge of the tower crane boom in order to fix the flag to its mast.
The Tricolour represents the true spirit of Indian courage. Thus, with God’s blessings and everyone’s well wishes, the highest & largest ever Tricolour in the country was hoisted successfully at Kolkata, Bengal. We all enjoyed the great many challenges posed before us! Happy Republic Day. Jai Hind!
