MONOLOGUES 2018: The Solo Art Festival at Kolkata
Kolkata, January 27, 2018: The inauguration of 6th edition of Monologues 2018 is poised to place in august presence of eminent actor Chandan Roy Sanyal, thespian Sohag Sen and Noted Playwright Mahesh Elkunchwar at ICCR. Organized by pHREEDOM4EVER, Monologues 2018 is India’s only solo art festival and is a platform for the artists to collaborate and perform together.

Presented by pHREEDOM4 EVER, an organization that envisages cultural excellence and brand equity with the right stroke of commerce is the brain child of its founder Chaity Ghosh. The passion to weave her own creative world led Chaity Ghosh to shape her dream in the name of pHREEDOM4 EVER. Her 23 years of apex level corporate experiences with various MNCs, Corporate Houses and Entertainment Industry has given shape to many dreams with insight, intelligence and power to foresee.

Ideated and conceptualized by noted elocutionist and India’s only audio actor to be a part of BBC Radio 3 Play, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and bolstered by pHREEDOM4 EVER, India’s only Solo Art Festival “MONOLOGUES” has stepped in its sixth year of offering a panorama of cherry picked solo performances by stalwarts and young performers of the country.
The inaugural session witnessed the captivating performance by the stalwarts Mahesh Elkunchwar and Sohag Sen. Sohag Sen brought out anecdotes on the creative aspirations of a small town wonder and on life and work. Another attraction of the evening was Chandan Roy Sanyal’s play reading on the script of Mahesh Elkunchwar.
ABOUT THE FESTIVAL –
MONOLOGUES have stepped in its sixth year of offering a panorama of cherry picked solo performances by stalwarts and young performers of the country. Over the years, the festival presented some stellar performances by a galaxy of artists from across the country and their association made MONOLOGUES a name in the cultural panorama of the nation. We take pride to have staged performances by Mahabanoo Modi Kotwal, Chapal Bhaduri, Mita Vashisht, Usha Ganguly, Lushin Dubey, Rudra Prasad Sengupta, Anindya Chattopadhyay, Rupankar Bagchi, Debshankar Haldar to name a few in various capacities and formats and enlightened the craft loving citizens. Since last year, a new segment started as a part of the festival The Solo Room Achiever Awards where the young and upcoming talents are recognized for their performance and contribution towards art and culture.
The inaugural session on 27th January, 2018 at The Library, ICCR at 6: 30 PM shall witness a captivating interactive session between Mahesh Elkunchwar and Sohag Sen. Sohag Sen will bring out anecdotes on the creative aspirations of a small town wonder and on his life and work. Another attraction of the evening shall be Chandan Roy Sanyal’s play reading on the script of Mahesh Elkunchwar.
The crowning off session on 3rd February, 2018 at The Abanindranath Gallery at 3: 30 PM shall start with a solo rendition by ace vocalist Monomoy Bhattacharya followed by a dance performance by globally celebrated danseuse and activist Alokananda Roy, a solo vocal by revered musician Gaurab (Gabu) Chatterjee and a piece of theatrical by Nandikar famed performer Saptarshi Moulick. On both the days the festival has free entry for enthusiasts. This is one of those landmark celebrations of art and culture that the art lovers of the city look up to due to its concept, presentation and artist amalgamation.
MONOLOGUES have also given a rock solid platform to upcoming talents to cement their artistic propositions. From 2016 onward, The Solo Room Achiever Awards has been initiated as a part of pHREEDOM4 EVER MONOLOGUES where young and talented Artists from various formats of performing art are being recognized to acknowledge fresh talents. This time, The Solo Room Achiever Awards and the recipients are Anujoy Chatterjee, Birsa Dasgupta, Sahana Dutta and Jayati Chakraborty for their contribution in different fields of art and culture on 3rd February, 2018.
