30 plays being presented by well-known theatre groups of Birbhum, Purba Bardhaman, Pachim Bardhaman, Purulia and Kolkata at the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC)’s Kolkata Theatre Festival (Srijani Parba) at EZCC’s Srijani, Santiniketan Centre from February 3 to 18, 2018.
Santiniketan, February 7, 2018: The Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC)’s Kolkata Theatre Festival (Srijani Parba) was inaugurated at its Srijani, Santiniketan Centre here on February 3 by well-known theatreperson Shri Manish Mitra of Kasba Arghya, Kolkata, which also put up the Festival’s first play.
The objective of holding this Festival is to popularise Bengali theatre, on the one hand by satisfying the growing number of theatre lovers outside Kolkata, and on the other, providing opportunities to theatre groups outside Kolkata to perform in locations closer to where their based. EZCC, which held the first Kolkata Theatre Festival in Kolkata from January 15 to 20, 2018, has plans to hold this Festival in other cities of West Bengal shortly.
In all, 30 plays are being presented at the Festival by well-known theatre groups from Kolkata, Birbhum, Purba Bardhaman, Pachim Bardhaman and Purulia districts, the details about which are enclosed. Between February 4 and February 17, the first plays and the second plays will start at 5.30 pm and 7 pm, respectively; and on the last day, the only play will start at 5.30 pm.
