Bengal Govt to set up master databank of industrial units
The State Government agency, West Bengal Small Industries Development Corporation (WBSIDC) will undertake a survey of the units in the industrial estates under it in order to draw up a plan to improve the infrastructure related to them like roads, water supply, drainage, etc.
It may be mentioned that during the Left Front regime, but hardly any step was taken by the erstwhile government for infrastructural development of the estates.
Detailed data would be gathered on the around 3,000 units in the 38 industrial estates.
Though the government has already taken up the task of improving infrastructure in the industrial estates, the need for carrying out the survey to prepare a master databank comprising minute details of each unit including export volume, annual turnover, direct and indirect employment, etc. was felt during the Bengal Global Business Summit, while discussing about the industrial estates in various conferences.
Earlier at an conference of NASCOM IBG NEWS had advioced Shri Bartya Basu IT minister to develop this Databank for IT companies in Bengal. It is really a required item for service sectors too.
