CM reaffirm completion of Polavaram project by 2019

Polavaram (West Godavari dist), Dec 24: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu said the Andhra Pradesh life line Polavaram project would be completed by 2019. The Chief Minister addressed farmers after launching the erection of first gate (41 st gate) of Project today.

Speaking on the occasion, he said the project works would be completed by May 2019 and water would be released through gravity through right and left main canals by December 2019. He said all the crest gates would be erected by May next year. Each gate weighing 300 tonnes would be erected. He said the coffer dam works would be completed on war footing.

Stating that taking up Polavaram project is a divine opportunity for him, the Chief Miniser said the project set several global records. He said the project concrete works to be taken up on January 6 would enter Guinness book of world records by completing 30000 cubic metres. The China and USA set records by completing 21,500 cubic metres concrete works.

The Chief Minister said that he personally inspected the project works 29 times and conducting virtual review for 83 times. Despite of opposition party’s false campaign, the state govt is able to complete 63 per cent of project works so far.

The Chief Minister said Andhra Pradesh is the first state to internlink rivers. He said that he insisted on merger of seven villages of Telangana in Andhra Pradesh for speedy completion of project works. He said by completing the Pattiseema lift irrigation scheme the Krishna delta ayacut was stabilised. He said Andhra Pradesh achieved 11 per cent growth rate. He said priority would be given for horticulture and aqua sectors. He said though AP deprived of justice and facing financial crisis, the state emerged as number one in the country and the state is going to receive prestigious award from centre on January 4 for speeding up Polavaram project works.
