The year-end cultural events of the Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre (EZCC), Ministry of Culture, Government of India will conclude tomorrow with the staging of the Bengali play Anya Theatre’s ‘Rajrakta’, as a part of EZCC’s Kolkata Theatre Festival; the play to be staged today will be Purba Paschim’s ‘Athoi Jal’. Presented earlier were Shyambazar Mukhomukhi’s, ‘Ghatok Biday’, Bohurupee’s ‘Ratan Sir’, Sayak’s ‘Punoruthhan’ and Nandikar’s ‘Byatikrom’.
At its Parv Bharatiyam Festival of Music and Dance, held between December 24 and 26, EZCC presented classical dance recitals of Odissi artiste Dona Ganguly and Manipuri artiste Bimbavati Devi and their troupes, classical vocal music recitals of Dhananjay Hegde and Pt. M. Venkatesh Kumar, a ‘sarod-sitar jugalbandi’ featuring Abhisek Lahiri and Ustad Rafique Khan, and some enjoyable folk dances of Rajasthan, West Bengal, Odisha and Karnataka. Free entry was offered to all.
