Apni Roti- An initiative taken by Shivohum Balaji Trust to provide free meal to the people in need and fight the growing despair of poverty. The NGO wagon has a pre-installed machine that can cook about 900 rotis in one hour.
Served together with a homemade pickle and a sweets makes it a wholesome nutritious meal for the people who are generally undernourished. The van moves to about three different locations in the city, serving about 500-800 people in a single day.
On this 70th Republic Day the NGO decided to put its wagon in the Gariahat area. To our surprise, a lot of people joined the initiative to serve the people in need. It was nice to see people coming forward with open arms for this noble initiative. Mr. Vikash Agarwal, the man behind this initiative is looking to inspire people to volunteer for this noble cause.
The team of NGO wants the society to serve anyone and everyone around them who are in need of food or any kind of basic necessity. “There is no point in showing off to the GOD you worship, feed the devotees, that will pay-off- Mr. Sujit Bose (MLA Bidhan Nagar, AITC) added, who also came down to volunteer for the cause.
