BMW Z4 Spied! May soon be launched in India
BMW is a German premium automobile manufacturer that has been aiming at expanding its portfolio of cars, especially in the sports cars segment. Under this marketing program, the company has planned to launch the new 2019 model of BMW Z4 in India according to industry sources. The German automaker showcased the supercar in a few recent car-shows and it has already created a huge fan base across the world.
The launch of the car in India will see a lot of sports car enthusiasts rejoice in excitement. The older version of BMW Z4 was launched in 2009 which was pretty successful in the market. The new model uses the same front engine rear-wheel-drive setup as the old one, which is sure to keep the purists happy.
There will be a lot of different variants available for the car but based on the Indian market survey and the environment it has to run it, the most likely model to hit the Indian roads is the BMW Z4 M40i. Coming to the technical specifications of the car, the M40i is rated at massive 340 BHP from its 3-liter 6-cylinder twin turbo engine. Talking about the acceleration, the car can go from 0 to 100 MPH in the span of 4.6 seconds. The top speed of the car is however limited electronically to 250 MPH. It also has a sports suspension and electronically controlled dampers, along with the M-Sports Brakes and electronically controlled M-Sport Differential in the rear-mounted transmission. Just like the 2020 Toyota Supra, the car with which the Z4 was jointly developed, this car also sports version has the 50-50 weight distribution too.
The Z4 is being launched in India in order to compete with the luxury and sport automakers which have already set their models on the roads and are planning to relaunch the most successful ones in India again in the year 2019. In India, this car will compete with other sports cars such as Porsche Boxster, Jaguar F-type, and Mercedes AMG SLC43. These are the toughest rivals when we look at this segment of the cars. Moreover, cars such as Mercedes C-Class Cabriolet and Audi A5 Cabriolet will also give it a little competition in terms of luxury and the cabin space.
The latest BMW Z4 will face tough competition as it has not really been on the Indian roads in the past 10 years. The latest generation of potential buyers of sports cars have seen other reliable options which have worked well on the Indian roads. Moreover, the car is priced at 1 Crore for the entry-level model of the car. The price tag too would be a problem since the potential customers can buy the 2-liter 4-cylinder Jaguar F-Type Roadster which is considered more spacious and luxurious than BMW Z4 M40i. This Beemer, which will supposedly be launched in 2019, will be different than the other sportscar options in India since the technology used is absolutely new and the price tag is also pretty competitive. Now, all we have to do is wait and see how the Indian buyers react to the car.
2019 has also seen expansion in BMW’s international lineup of cars, especially in the US market. The latest cars to grace US shores include the new Z4, the X7 luxury SUV, and the 8-series luxury Coupe. With aggressive plans to introduce electric and hybrid cars as well, BMW is set to take a step ahead of the other manufacturers into the future.
