HARMANPREET KAUR
When they say it can’t be done, Be the first one to do it.
Hailing from a small town in Moga, Punjab, Harmanpreet didn’t have the right access to sport while growing up. The closest she got to playing her favorite game was playing it with the boys in her neighborhood. People mocked her for wanting to pursue a career in a sport dominated by men.
Seeing her passion and commitment to cricket, a local coach decided to start a women’s team for the first time. Since then, Harmanpreet has added a lot of firsts in her career – the first woman to score a 100 at the T20 World Cup, the first Indian woman to play in an overseas T20 league, the highest individual score for India at a World Cup.
Harmanpreet’s incredible self-belief in her own talent has helped her dominate the sport and she is today amongst the most talented cricketers in the World. Her unbelievable strength and bold attitude have not only inspired millions of girls on the field but off it too.
