Round Table India launches the sixth edition of ‘Airtel Run for Education’

Kolkata, 7th November 2019: Round Table India, the national social service organization and Bharti Airtel Ltd. announces the 6th edition of Run for Education (RFE 2019) to be held in Kolkata on November 24th. Run for Education is the city’s only fundraising sporting

event that aims at empowering the underprivileged children of the country with the weapon of education. With the idea of ‘Freedom through Education’, Run for Education has stood rock-solid on its determination of providing support in the form of finances and infrastructure to schools in and around the city to facilitate education for the needy. As the biggest and the best Half Marathon (HM) of Kolkata, Run for Education expects the participation of over 8,000 runners from across the city. The Half Marathon will be flagged off from City Centre 1, Salt Lake.

Run for Education is divided into the categories of 5KM Fun Run5KM timed run, 10KM run and 21KM Half Marathon. The various categories encourage the participation of professional and novice runners from all walks of life, be it from high-end corporates, school/college students, or families in the neighborhood. This facilitates the spread of awareness of fitness and a healthy life as well as the importance of helping dissemination education as a major responsibility of every able citizen.

Siddharth Sharma, CEO – Bharti Airtel, West Bengal Telecom Circle, said “Brand Airtel is synergistic with the running of marathons for a cause, we have recently successfully concluded the Airtel Delhi Half Marathon and Airtel Hyderabad Marathon. We encourage everyone in the city to be a part of this mega event and lead the participation drive among family and friends, championing the cause of education for underprivileged children.”

RFE 2019 Race Director Mr. Atul Gupta, member of Calcutta South Round Table 17, has fixed on the magnificent route track of 21.092km in a single loop track through an amazingly scenic part of the city, spanning from Salt Lake, New Town and Biswa Bangla gate. The 10km straight route from City Centre 1 allows runners to give their best performance. 

Vineet Patawari, CEO and Co-Founder Kredent Money, said “Kredent has been a corporate supporter for this event over the last 5 years since this event seeks to promote the importance of proper education & health. We strongly believe that ‘Health is Wealth’ and being associated with this event enables us to spread this message among the masses.”

The impact created by Run for Education through its past editions has led to bringing education to several children around the city who were so long deprived of the light of knowledge. From 2014 to 2018, Run for Education has funded the following schools and helped them accommodate as many students as possible –

Sarada Sishu Mandir (2014),Katadanga Kendra Vidhyalaya (2015)Champdani Ram Dulari Hindi High School (2016)Fort Gloster Prathmik School (2017)Kanchidiha Saraswati Shishu Mandir Vill Krishananagar (2018) & Bright Future Nursery & KG School, Kakdwip, West Bengal (2018).

The funds raised from the 2019 leg of RFE will also be donated towards a similar cause of developing infrastructure of an identified school.
