Uday Shankar Choreography Festival December 25 – 26 – 27, 2019
West Bengal Dance Group Federation in association with Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre organized a 3-Day Choreography Festival at Purbasree Auditorium on the occasion of 119th Birth Anniversary of Dance Legend Uday Shankar.
This festival was unique in nature,16 eminent dance groups of West Bengal presented a colourful bouquet of Contemporary and Folk dances of our country.
The event was inaugurated by Smt. Gouri Basu, Director of Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre and had the presence of Smt. Debjani Chaliha, Smt.Mamata Shankar and many other stalwarts of the performing arts community during the three-day festival on 25 December 2019, 5:50 PM at the aforesaid venue. Our Guests of Honour on Dec.26th. was Sri Goutam De, Director, Rabindranath Tagore Centre, ICCR Kolkata.some of the prominent groups performed in this festival are: Mamata Shankar Dance Company, Dancer’s Guild, Srijani, Niharika Centre for Performing Arts, Urmila Cultural Troupe, Sarabhuj, Vibration Dance Academy and so on.
Mamata Shankar Dance Company performed on the composition of Ananda Shankar “Missing You” which Shankar composed after his legendary father’s demise and was choreographed by Amala Shankar. Chandradoy Ghosh, Ratul Shankar also were present at the do.
