Ekshoy Baro is a special wall calendar featuring Satyajit Ray’s artworks he did for his film posters, booklets, magazine cover, postal stamp, book cover and so on, is all set to be released on 22 January 2020, at Spices N Sauces ( ICCR outlet ), 4 pm in presence of noted filmmaker Sandip Ray and family. The Dreamers is releasing the unique calendar to celebrate the birth centenary year of legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray conceptualized by Sudipta Chanda, cover illustration by Sid Ghosh. Akshay Baro stands for twelve selective artworks two per month to celebrate his birth centenary year. As we know he worked for advertising company he used to design his all promotional creatives by his own be it posters, booklets, cover for magazines, illustrations for books, even he designed the postal stamp released by the India Post on Rabindranath Tagore’s birth centenary year. This calendar covers his artistry as a class designer through his posters, booklets, book cover, magazine cover and the postal stamp and so on. His work of calligraphy speaks of his class. His designs tell the theme of the film or content he had dealt with. He designed several covers for the popular Bengali magazine for children Sandesh besides illustrations for stories. Use of colours, motif, calligraphy, illustrations all made him a class apart. His such works are considered a piece of art globally. This calendar celebrates his artistry as a designer, illustrator. Sudipta Chanda, a man from Bengal is known as the POSTER BOY OF KOLKATA. From journalism background, Chanda has an immense soft spot for collecting vintage film posters and other publicity materials since his college days. He even showcased two big exhibitions one on Big B besides RD Burman in the city in recent past. Now he is all set to release a special calendar on Satyajit Ray film posters and others commemorating the legend’s birth centenary year.
