Kolkata, January 22, 2020: Starmark, in association with Saptarshi Prakashan, hosted the launch of Ami Lily—autobiography of eminent actor Lily Chakraborty—by filmstar Prosenjit Chatterjee and several others closely connected to her, at its South City Mall outlet here today.
About Lily Chakraborty:
As an actor, Lily Chakraborty really needs no introduction to Bengali film lovers. They readily recall her first film Bhanu Pelo Lottery (1958) and thereafter her performances in Madhyarater Tara, Jana Aranya, Sakha Proshakha, Kaach Kata Hirey, Bhola Moira, Achanak, Alaap, Posto and several others. What is truly remarkable is how her dedication and deep love for acting has sustained her till today, as she nears 79 and continues to perform with distinction in the company of those much younger.
About the book:
Ami Lily covers Lily Chakraborty’s long life…her birth on August 8th, 1941 at Bikrampur, Dhaka, her early life in Madhya Pradesh, her coming to Kolkata when she was seventeen, her initiation to stage acting by her mother, and thereafter, her long career both on the stage and in films, in her own words. She writes about her ups and downs, her emotional highs and lows, her experiences with legends like Uttam Kumar, Amitabh Bachhan, Soumitra Chatterjee, Dilip Ray and others as also the great distinction with which she performed in Bengali, Hindi and South Indian films and in TV serials much later.
Ami Lily has been edited by Dipankar Bhattacharya and Amoy Deb Roy.
