ICC Social Impact Awards & Summit

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds can be properly utilised and can have deep impact to the society if they are applied to Government projects even if in a small way, stated Dr Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal. She also added, “Government does not need CSR funds but qualitative services from the corporate”.
Dr Shashi Panja was speaking at the ICC Social Impact Awards and Summit.
The awards were given in 10 different categories. Over 70 projects applied for the different categories and 52 shortlisted projects were awarded prizes. Some of the winners were – SBI Foundation in Employment Enhancing Vocational Skills Category; NMDC Limited & Indian Tea Association in Healthcare Category; Dalmia Bharat Foundation in Empowering the Rural Population Category; ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth in Promoting Gender Equality & Women Empowerment Category – some of the winners.
Dr Shashi Panja, also expressed interest in the projects submitted for the awards so that they can be implemented in the State.
Earlier, Dr Subhrangshu Sanyal, CEO, IIM Calcutta Innovation Park, said that youths of today can solve the present day problem through innovative solutions. He also stressed on the scalability and replicability of CSR projects so that they can be implemented successfully. Mrs Rakhi Sarkar, Chairperson, ICC Social Impact Awards said CSR has positively impacted the society. In the beginning while welcoming the dignitaries Mr Mayank Jalan, President, ICC, said that businesses cannot be successful with the society around it failing. Dr Rajeev Singh, Director General, Indian Chamber of Commerce ended the session with his Vote of Thanks.
