Bangaluru,7th October 2020:
Recently few individuals associated with The Bengalee Association Bangalore staged a protest in
front of The Bengalee Association against BBMP officials when the Government of Karnataka appointed an Administrator due to non-payment of lease amount since 2007 amounting to Rs.3.5 Crore.
The Bengalee Association is one of the associations out of 135 associations in Bangalore. It might be the oldest among all but they do not represent the entire Bengalee community living in Bangalore, says Mr. Sourav Mukherjee National President of Bongio Samaj Bengaluru, the largest Bengalee organization which is connected with more than 80+ associations. Mr. Mukherjee further mentioned that “We strongly condemn such act and request all not to stage such protest. We have always received cooperation from Karnataka State Government whenever we approached for any help be it permission for Durga Puja or support for stranded native labors and patients from West Bengal during the lockdown.
We have received a request from Mr. Achintya Lal Roy, convenor of the protest to intervene and currently we are working on it for an amicable solution. Bengalee community in Bangalore are highly respected locally and always appreciated by Government of
Karnataka for our culture, dedication, and honesty. If there is any genuine issue, we can always sit and talk to Government authorities and definitely can find some solution. They always welcome us for any discussions”.
