ER RESUMES UTS ON MOBILE APP FOR NON-SUBURBAN PASSENGER TRAINS
Kolkata, March 2, 2021
During the lockdown, the train services were suspended to avoid the community spread of COVID-19 virus. The train services resumed in a phased manner during the unlock period, and in course of time, the suburban services were also restored. But UTS on Mobile App could not be started as this is a Pan India network, and in many Railways, suburban services were not restored or restricted to a limited group of persons.
UTS Mobile App ticketing system for journeys within suburban areas started on January 6, 2021. It enabled the passengers to travel without having to stand in queues at the ticket counters. Thus, Railway facilitated the passengers to maintain physical distancing, one of the yardsticks of protection against Corona Virus. However, UTS for Mail/Express trains and short-distance passenger trains could not be started as unreserved accommodation in such trains was not allowed.
Unreserved ticketing service through UTS on Mobile app in non-suburban sections of Eastern Railway (ER) has been resumed from Monday (March 01, 2021) in a restricted mode. After enabling this app, passengers can get access to purchase tickets in the following manner:-
This facility applies for ER jurisdiction only i.e. both originating and terminating stations within Eastern Railway Zone.
2) Mail/Express tickets will not be issued through this app as unreserved accommodation is not yet allowed in Mail/Express trains.
This is applicable for originating and terminating stations within Eastern Railway Zone. This facility is not applicable for fully reserved Mail/Express Trains.
ER authority has also informed that Season Tickets will be issued for unreserved passenger trains.
