Harivansh ‐ Children of Tomorrow is a sincere effort by a group of concerned citizens to come together and view the real threat of global warming with a concerted effort towards a healthier Planet. Can the green cover that we have lost over the past decades really be put back? One Cannot say it for sure. We need to start somewhere. And there is no better day to
get a head start than World Forestry Day.
In the last 10 years, we have learnt to laud the efforts of men and women who have helped the green cause by planting entire forests with their own hand. Many of us also secretly wish that we could join the gang of green crusaders who are using every bit of their effort to put some Colour back on a browning landscape. Green in this context does not stay just green, but
Assumes various shades and many colours that truly come to life in a forest landscape. Little wildflowers, birds and bugs, small animals and even some big ones truly present the perfect picture. People might wonder, can we do all that by just planting a tree?
Find out the answer yourself. We have pledged to plant and take care of 1000 saplings till they can sustain themselves and grow free with no hindrance. You can ask again, how is this possible by planting a few hundred saplings? The actual intent is to plant many, many more Saplings. Not to stay caught in the number and area. The idea is to reach out and involve more
hands.
But despite all the flurry of activity, we are indeed nursing a secret. Of all the champions of forestry, one name that stands out is the Japanese pioneer Akira Miyawaki. With the Miyawaki method of plantation compared to other informal methods, we get a number of benefits that are listed here.
- Approximately 30 times more trees planted, as compared to conventional plantation techniques. A minimum of 300% more species in the same area as compared to conventional plantation species.
- A substantial 3000% increase in noise and dust isolation. Up to 30 times or more Carbon Di-Oxide absorption as compared to conventional forests. Guaranteed growth of at least 1 meter every year, in tree height.
- A completely maintenance-free, wild, and native forest after the first three years. A completely chemical-fertilizer-free forest that sustains itself and supports local biodiversity.
Harivansh–Children of Tomorrow is truly a gift for future generations to share the gifts of this Wonderful planet. Biodiversity and ecological harmony should also be a part of the curriculum.
That is now aimed at achieving professional excellence. Amid all the rigorous activity, just helping some trees to find their feet can enthuse and inspire one to live a life less ordinary.T
