First Woman FireFighter Tanya Sanyal Leads Parade While Observing Fire Safety Week by AAI, Eastern Region

Airports Authority of India (AAI), Eastern Region is observing the Fire Safety Week from April 14to 20, 2021. On the occasion of Fire Safety Day AAI, ER has organised a bunch of activities. On Wednesday, a special program was arranged at FSTC, Narayanpur.
The programme started by observing two minutes of silence to pay homage to the brave 71 firemen who lost their lives fighting the fire that took place at freighter SS Fort Stikine at the Victoria Dock in the then Bombay Port on April 14, 1944. This act of courage saved thousands of civilians.
A live programme was organised which demonstrated the rescue and fire fighting activities on the Ship on Fire. The parade which was previously led by the male officials was commanded by India’s first woman Fire fighter Kumari Tanya Sanyal, which signifies that women should be given equal opportunity in every field, irrespective of any discrimination.
Shri Rajender Singh Lahauria, General Manager (ATM)/HOD, Fire Services (ER) welcomed the Regional Executive Director, Eastern Region and other senior officers of AAI.
Shri Manoj Gangal, Regional Executive Director, Eastern Region, AAI hoisted the flag on this occasion followed by a Guard of Honour by Fire Service personnel. In his address to the gathering, Shri Manoj Gangal expressed his gratitude towards the courageous Fire Service personnel of India. Further, in his address he said that even in difficult times of COVID-19, the personnel of AAI Fire Service staff were devoted to their duties for which even in this tumultuous time the organisation could run its work efficiently which had a massive impact on the aviation sector. He is hopeful that the fire staff will continue to contribute towards the development of AAI and the nation. The vote of thanks was given by the Principal FSTC, Shri Nitin Bhilkar. The function was conducted keeping in mind the social distance and safety standards.
