ER DISMANTLES GIRDERS OF BRIDGE NO. 26A TO FACILITATE CONSTRUCTION OF 4TH LINE BETWEEN BARUIPARA & CHANDANPUR OF HOWRAH DIVISION

Amidst the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Eastern Railway (ER) is completing many long pending construction works in the shadow of lesser traffic, thereby turning crisis into opportunities.
The work for dismantling of 45 ft. shallow type steel girders of bridge No. 26A including pathways to facilitate the construction of the fourth line between Baruipara & Chandanpur was executed on Sunday, May 16, 2021 by 140T Crane over up & reversible line of Howrah – Barddhaman Chord line section of the ER’s Howrah Division.
The traffic & power block of 5 hrs. & 15 minutes from 8.20 am. to 1.35 pm at Kamarkundu was taken on Sunday and the work was completed in a record time within the stipulated block hours. The work was executed with the least number of staff and observed all COVID protocols despite problems during the lockdown.
The basic objective of dismantling girders of bridge No. 26A is to facilitate construction of the fourth line between Baruipara & Chandanpur which will provide more speedy train communication and will serve passengers in an even better way transporting them to their destinations faster.
