ER’S ASANSOL STATION RECEIVES IGBC GREEN RAILWAY STATION PLATINUM RATING BY CII Kolkata,

Eastern Railway (ER)’s Asansol station has received a prestigious “IGBC (INDIAN GREEN BUILDING COUNCIL) GREEN RAILWAY STATION PLATINUM” rating by CII (Confederation of Indian Industries) today.

Asansol is the first station in ER to achieve a Platinum rating for a Railway station. Various energy efficient & environmental-friendly measures undertaken by the Asansol Division from the beginning of the certification process in September 2019 are detailed as under:
1) Development of ecological parks on both sides of the station removing jungles.
2) Development of ‘station centre’ concept including Restaurant on Wheels, stage, sitting area, recycling fountains etc.
3) Beautifying circulating areas, ‘station centre’ and ecological parks with “scrap to art” items. All beautification processes have been undertaken by the Railway staff.
4) Using conventional energy sources at stations like solar energy to save money and conventional energy sources.
5) Recycling of water at stations through sewerage treatment plants.
6) Recycling of coaching complex water through ETP.
7) Recycling of plastic items and waste from a station through converters.
8) Rain water harvesting system at the station.
9) Beautification of the station’s inside & outside to be one of the best in the country.10) All the other compliances as per IGBC norms for green rating certification.
