The lockdown period in the state was extended till June 15. At a press conference on Thursday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that all restrictions would remain in place in the state till June 15. The Chief Minister said that the restrictions that were in place will continue. As a result of the restrictions, the number of infections in the state has decreased. So this decision.

Earlier, a virtual lockdown was declared in the state from May 15. The previous day, May 14, had the highest number of infections in the state. 20 thousand 748 people were affected. On May 15, 19,511 people were infected. But infections have been declining since the lockdown was announced. 16,225 people have been infected in the last 24 hours. That’s why the lockdown has been extended for another 16 days, according to administration sources.

“We are not calling it a lockdown,” Mamata said on Thursday. We are talking about restrictions. All the restrictions that were there before will be maintained. No one will go out from 9 pm to 5 am. Markets, sweet shops, sari, jewelry shops will open as per the rules. Only the number of workers in the jute mill has been increased from 30 percent to 40 percent. Once the construction workers are vaccinated, they will be able to work as usual. “
