Knognut foundation and Kolkata Municipal Corporation came forward for COVID-19 50-bed Covid Care Unit at South Kolkata
A 50-bed Covid Care Unit in Sarat Bose Road is all set to open doors on June 3rd. A joint initiative of NGO Knognat Foundation and the Kolkata Municipal Corporation, the new facility stands on the campus of South Suburban School. It is equipped with a team of doctors and nurses available in-house 24*7 and high pressure oxygen supply through the pipeline for patients needing critical care and BI-PAP support. Ramkrishna Seva Pratishthan will be providing critical care service to the unit.
Secretary Maharaj Of Sishu Mangal Seva Prathishtan, MLA Sri Debashish Kumar, Minister of the state Sri Subrata Mukherjee and Minister of state Smt Chandrima Bhattacharya will inaugurate the facility at 11.30am on June 3rd.
According to MLA Debashis Kumar, who has been associated with the project, this covid care facility is a step towards providing quality health care at a subsidized rate to those who are not getting hospital beds.
Established in 2014 by social activist Ms Debjani Guha and her daughters Ms Devleena Ghosh and Ms Devipriya Guha, Knognat Foundation works and campaigns for the health of children, lactating and pregnant women and senior citizens. Since the beginning of the pandemic it has been working relentlessly full time towards the rehabilitation of Amphan cyclone victims in several villages across South 24 Parganas. It has also been helping out 250+ covid victims with cooked food, medicines, oximeters, steam machines and counselling.
