Kolkata, 1st July, 2021: National Doctor’s Day is celebrated all over the India on 1st July. The pandemic has reminded people about the contribution and sacrifices of the Doctors. Amid COVID crisis Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital (JIMSH) has felicitated this doctors who are serving the society by risking their own lives specially at the COVID care. A cultural programme was organized to encourage their spirit and to salute their contribution as a whole today at the college premises.  Mr. Ritesh Kayal, Chairman of Calcutta Heritage Round Table 67 appreciated doctors of JIMSH for their hard work and dedication for fight against Corona Virus. Mr. Jagannath Gupta, Chairman, JIMSH, Mr. K K Gupta, Vice Chairman, JIMSH along with all the Doctors of JIMSH, Hospital Principal, MSVP, all HODs were present for the ‘National Doctor’s Day’ programme.

‘National Doctor’s Day’ in India commemorates the iconic and internationally renowned medical practitioner, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy who served as a physician, a freedom fighter, an educationist and a politician.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been tough for the doctors along with the other medical staff. Even after losing their close family members, they never failed to serve the mankind. When the second wave was at peak the doctors of Jagannath Gupta Institute of Medical Sciences and Hospital (JIMSH) have continued to work untiringly to serve the mankind. Through the cultural programme the budding doctors from the JIMSH have kudos their spirit and dedication of handling critically COVID patients at the isolation ward physically, mentally and emotionally.

On the occasion Mr.  K.K. Gupta, Vice Chairman, JIMSH said, “There should be no specific day to observe Doctor’s day. Since the whole country are dealing with such deadly virus, it is the doctors who are constantly fighting to give a new life to each patients. As we are celebrating this day, I think we should show our gratitude towards them for serving the mankind without thinking about their own health and family. I thank all the doctors of JIMSH for their endless contribution to fight the storm together.”
