U 23 Bengal boys being trained with the Indian Army at Fort Williams
Bengal U23 probables are undergoing physical conditioning sessions at the Fort Williams.
State cricket Coach and former Indian Cricketer Laxmi Ratan Shukla is leaving no stones unturned to ensure that the probables attain maximum mental and physical toughness ahead of the squad selection process.
“I have always believed that skills and fine-tuning can always be worked on. But mental toughness and physical conditioning have to be enhanced. It is the mental toughness which makes a batsman capable of grinding out a difficult session or a bowler who has gone wicketless after toiling for an entire session finds the physical endurance to bowl a few more overs.
And who can inculcate that in the players more than those in the Indian Army.So we requested the Officers here in Bengal Area and they readily agreed to help the boys. Now the probables are undergoing physical conditioning at Fort Williams from the Army trainers to build up their endurance,”
said L R Shukla.
The boys will undergo a ten day session in two batches and this will hopefully make the players tougher.
Indian Armed forces are the major contributors towards the field of sports in India for a long time.
Services Sports Control Board is one of the best sports control boards of India. But they are lacking in fund .If they would have got adequate funds like BCCI , I am sure they would have produced many more world class sports persons and could improve the rank of India at least within first ten rankings in the World sports.
The Indian Army have always protected more than 135 Crore people of our Motherland by guarding the International borders with their selfless sacrifice and dedication and have played a very prominent role in the field of sports helping the country in producing some of the best athletes on the global stage. The performance of the gold medal winner , JCO Neeraj Chopra (VSM) in the Tokyo Olympic is a glaring example !
