Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Celebrates 53rd Year by replicating with its theme Vaccination Wins Over Corona
Kolkata, 9th October, 2021: The members of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park have taken up the challenge to discover the theme “Vaccination Wins Over Corona” which was inaugurated today by Sri. Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Member of Parliament & was attended by: Sri. Tapas Roy, Hon’ble MLA & President NKDTMC; Smt. Nayna Bandyopadhyay, MLA; Sri. Vivek Guta, MLA; Smt. Smita Bakshi, Ex MLA; Sri. Sanjay Bakshi, Ex MLA; Smt. Shagufta Parveen, Councillor; Smt. Rehana Khatun, Councillor & Borough Co-ordinator; Sri. Manoj Poddar, Chairman of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park & many other eminent personalities.
The Durga Puja at Mohammad Ali Park, which was shifted to the adjacent Central Avenue Fire Station after the wall of an underground reservoir collapsed in 2019, will be back in the park this year. Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park brings forward an unimaginable theme Vaccination Wins Over Corona.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Surendra Kr. Sharma, General Secretary of Youth Association of Mohammad Ali Park Durga Puja said, “If 2020 was about Covid-19 infection, 2021 is all about vaccination, the only weapon against the disease. So, this year, we are attempting to propagate the importance of vaccination from our Puja premises. The theme will revolve around prevention against a pandemic and will specifically explore the significance of vaccination. Visitors will not be allowed inside the park but will have to get a glimpse of the Puja from the road. The goddess there can be seen very well from a distance of 15 feet.” He further added, “Nothing is more important than public health and with coronavirus still on we need to be alert. Mohammad Ali Park can wait for grander celebrations in the coming years.”
Mohammad Ali Park stunned the city last year by replacing the traditional idol of Mahishasura with that of ‘Coronashura’. Interestingly, the Puja started in the year 1969 from Tara Chand Dutta Street, but owing to its ascending popularity, it was moved to Mohammad Ali Park. This year the Puja is returning to its original venue and will feature an economical modest ‘ekchala’ or a single arch idol.
