·         Robotic surgeries are minimally invasive; advanced procedure for lesser blood loss, lesser pain and faster recovery

Kolkata: Going by the conventional set of treatments available for cancer, many cases require surgical invasion to remove their tumor. Although surgery is considered to be one of the painful procedures but in recent decade with 3D visualization, minimally invasive technique and faster recovery robotic surgeries have transformed this idea. In an endeavor to take this vision forward recently Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah introduced 4th Gen Da Vinci Robotic Surgery for advanced treatment in Cancer Care. The conference was organized at The LaLiT Great Eastern Kolkata, Dalhousie Square Kolkata – 700 069 on 9th December, 2021.

Talking about Gynae Cancer, Uro Cancer, GI Cancer, Head & Neck Cancer, Thoracic Cancer or any other organ specific cancer, the biggest fear of losing organ prevails. Robotic Surgeries minutely aim at the tumour and tissues can be saved. It also helps to shorter stay in hospital.

Dr. Suman Mallik, Clinical Director – Senior Consultant & HOD Radiation Oncology, Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah said, “In Robotic Surgery, with attached camera’s visuals there are more chances to target specific area of the cancer and save surrounding tissues and organs. Here a minor or smaller area needs to be invaded and with attached camera and multiple advanced equipment. While doctors don’t need to cut open the entire area these video assisted procedures help doctors to come up with right evaluation and take the tumor out of the body. Hence robotic surgeries should be more opted as per concerned doctors’ evaluation and suggestion.
