On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the Year of Mujib, a special program has been organized today, Thursday (December 16) and tomorrow, December 16, at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad under the title ‘Mahavijayer Mahanayak’. The President of India Ramnath Kobind addressed the gathering here today. He started his speech by saying Namaskar, Shubh Sandhya and Assalamu Walaikum. After that, Kobind said in Bengali, “I extend my sincere congratulations and best wishes to the people of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh.”

Then the President of India remembered the martyrs, refugees and victims of the great liberation war. At one point in his speech, Ramnath Kobind quoted from the rebellious poem of the national poet of Bangladesh Kazi Nazrul Islam in Bengali while talking about the struggle of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He reads from the poem, ‘I am a rebellious war-weary / I will be calm on that day / When the cry of the oppressed will not sound in the sky-air / The sword of the oppressor will not cry / Bhima will not fight in the battlefield.’

Meanwhile, on the 50th anniversary of the victory, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina administered the oath of office to the people of the country. On the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Independence and the Year of Mujib, the Prime Minister conducted this oath-taking ceremony across the country this afternoon (December 16). Ordinary people read the oath of office with the national flag from the designated venues of the country’s divisional districts, districts and upazila stadiums and Victory Day.
