BSF RESCUED 140 PARROTS FROM THE CLUTCHES OF SMUGGLERS ON INDO-BANGLADESH BORDER, SMUGGLER ALSO ARRESTED

On January 13, 2022, South Bengal Frontier jawans nabbed a smuggler along with 140 green parrots, foiling wildlife smuggling along the Indo-Bangladesh border. All these birds were being smuggled from India to Bangladesh through the area of ​​Border Out Post Tarali, North 24 Parganas district in Bangladesh.

On 13 January, 2022 , on the basis of specific information the troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion, Sector Kolkata laid an Ambush near the International Boundary. Ambush party noticed the movements of some suspicious persons who were trying to move towards Tarali village carrying bags on their shoulders. The Ambush Party challenged the them to stop, but they tried to escaped, the troops chased them and apprehended one of the smugglers while the rest of the smugglers managed to escape taking advantage of the mist and darkness. When the jawans conducted a thorough search of the area, eight cages were recovered from the three bags, inside which a total of 140 green parrots were found. The apprehended smuggler was identified as Hasibur Sardar, age – 18 years, Village – Nityanand Kathi, Post – Hakimpur, PS – Swaroopnagar, District North 24 Parganas.

During interrogation, apprehended smuggler Hasibur Sardar revealed that he works as a smuggler for the last few days, today (January 13) all these parrots had taken him from Suman Sardar, a resident of his own village. After crossing the BSF duty line these were to be handed over to Mamul Dafadar in Tarali village. He was to get 1000 rupees for this work.

All the rescued birds from the clutches of the smugglers and the apprehended smugglers have been handed over to the Customs office, Tentulia for further legal proceedings.

The Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier expressed happiness over the achievement of the 112 troops in detaining a smuggler along with 140 green parrots while thwarting the smuggling attempt. He stated that this has been possible only because of the alertness displayed by the jawans on duty. The officer clearly stated that nothing can hide from the eyes of his soldiers.
