BORDER SECURITY FORCE THWARTED THE INTENSION OF SMUGGLERS, SEIZED WILD BIRDS ON THE BORDER

Border Security Force seized wild birds in two separate incidents on the border. In the first incident on 31st January, 2022 under South Bengal Frontier, troops of Border Out Post Tarali, 112 Battalion have caught 100 wild birds (80 Green Parrots and 20 Yellow Cockatiels) in the border area. Smugglers were trying to take these birds from India to Bangladesh from the area of ​​North 24 Parganas district.

On 31st January, 2022, on receiving a special input, all the troops of Border Out Post Tarali were alerted. About 1830, the ambush was laid at the mentioned place. During the ambush Border Security Force troops observed some suspicious persons who were moving towards Bangladesh with cages on their heads. At the same time, the jawans challenged and chased them to capture, but the smugglers managed to escape by taking advantage of the dense darkness and forest. When the jawans conducted a thorough search of that area. During the search, 06 cages were recovered from the area, in which 80 green parrots and 20 yellow cockatiels were found.

In the second incident, the Border Security Force freed two rare species of birds (Cinereous Vulture) from the clutches of smugglers while thwarting the smuggling of rare birds in the border area of ​​Nadia district.

On 1st February, 2022 at about 0550 hrs, the alert troops of Border Out Post Brahmanagar, 82 Battalion challenged them to stop the smugglers who were coming from Bangladesh side. On seeing the jawans, smugglers fled towards Bangladesh side. The jawans recovered two rare species of birds (Cinereous Vulture) in two bags from the spot.

Border Security Force handed over the captured birds to Custom Department Tentulia and Forest Department Krishnanagar respectively for further legal action.

Public Relations Officer, South Bengal Frontier stated that the Border Security Force is taking strict measures to stop the smuggling of rare species of birds along the border. He expressed happiness over the achievements of the 112Bn and 82 Battalion troops. He stated in clear words that we will not allow smuggling from our area under any circumstances.
