The fight ended with a long illness. Sadhan Pande, Minister of State and Trinamool MLA of Maniktala constituency passed away at the age of 81.
He was sick for a long time. Kidney transplants had to be done decades ago. He had to be admitted to the hospital once during the last assembly election campaign. However, he was released within a few days and returned home. In the election, he defeated the BJP candidate with more than 20000 votes. After taking oath as West Bengal cabinet on May 10, he got charge of the two departments.
Mr. Pandey fell seriously ill again in mid-July. The minister was admitted to a private hospital in Kolkata on the night of July 16 with a lung infection. At that time, he was very unconscious. He was kept on ventilation for a few days. He was shifted to a hospital in Mumbai in September. He died there. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed grief over the death of her long-time colleague.
Mr. Pande was a popular social service face in and around his area and beyond. People used to get the support of their MLA during need hours. The entire political fraternity expressed grief over his death.
