President von der Leyen participates in Bucharest Nine (B9) Summit in Warsaw and in special NATO Summit
President Ursula von der Leyen will participate today in the B9 Summit hosted in Warsaw by the President of Poland Andrzej Duda and the President of Romania Klaus Iohannis. President von der Leyen will discuss the current security situation in Ukraine and Europe with the leaders of Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czechia, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia in the wake of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The meeting follows last night’s Special European Council during which the EU’s Heads of State or Government endorsed a package of massive and targeted sanctions against Russia. After the B9 summit, President von der Leyen will participate in the special NATO Summit convened for this afternoon by Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg via videoconference.
